In the wake of a crucial victory at the Lusail Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has dramatically reduced the margin in the title race. Now sitting just twelve points behind leader the British driver and in front of teammate his McLaren rival, the stage is set for a nail-biting three-way championship battle at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit.

A Victory Forged by Timing and Execution.

The incredible part of this late-season charge particularly notable is how far he has recovered. Following the Zandvoort round in August, he was a massive 104 points behind the championship leader his rival and had publicly written off his championship hopes.

The shift began with major technical upgrades introduced by his team at the Monza. Adjustments to the vehicle's underbody and front wing rectified persistent balance issues, allowing Verstappen to feel comfortable with the chassis once more.

From then on, his performance has been nothing short of formidable, achieving five victories and multiple podiums. He was quick to praise the unified work behind this success.

"We have triumphed where maybe it seemed unlikely, by making the optimal strategy as a group," he explained. "The way I work with my engineer, GP and the whole team... we are deeply connected."

The Stakes for a Historic Decider.

Ahead of the arrive in Abu Dhabi, the championship picture is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader can secure his maiden world title if he beats both Verstappen and Piastri or achieves a place on the rostrum.
• Max Verstappen has to take the checkered flag first and requires that his rival finishes off the podium.
• The third contender, who is by sixteen points, needs a victory and witness Norris end up no higher than sixth.

The pressure now shifts on the papaya-colored cars, who have watched a comfortable advantage slip away due to recent setbacks, including a double disqualification in Las Vegas. From his perspective, this position allows for freedom, turning the ultimate Grand Prix into a straight chance to go for glory with zero pressure.
