The Streaming Giant Chooses Spot-On Actor for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has just been cast.
The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. Bon Clay has the ability to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a version of that role reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action series, as in the source material and animated series.
The new cast member will work alongside several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to the screen, featuring chief the main antagonist, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Though this character is a important part of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the part. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
